DCC Board Meeting 5/4/10
Members Present: Phil Montalto President, Russ Peacock Treasurer, Dalton Schreiber Vice-President (arrived 6:42pm), Jeff Attoe Member, Dennis Becker Member, Rani Connely Member, Angie Haag Member, Gayle Hemberger-Lee Member
Administration Present: Tom Bush, Executive Director, Victoria Bush, Capital Campaign

- Call to order 6:03pm by Montalto
- Motion to approve agenda by Peacock, second by Attoe, no discussion, motion carried 6-0
- Motion to approve Minutes by Peacock, second by Attoe, motion to approve carried 6-0 with change on 5f = Promised Band not Bank.
- Treasurer Report by Peacock. Payroll over-budget from previous month due to accrual on payroll for 2009. There should be an adjusting entry to clear. Tom will discuss with Marjorie. Tom inserted a print out as of 5/3 of all account balances from the Bank of Deerfield. This was done to give a current report, as the Accounting Reports lag. Peacock declined offer to continue with this report. Motion to approve by Attoe, second by Connely, motion carried 6-0.
- Committee Reports
- Director Report by T Bush. Report attached to packet. Major Contribution from Second Harvest is actually a credit from the Million Pound Challenge. This is the first installment. Million Pound Challenge in the final month. Currently 8th highest team. Review calendars for May and June – Note no Daisy meeting 5/11. June 11-13 is Firemen’s Festival not Deerfield Days. There will be Cow Drop Bingo. Reviewed there are four traveling baseball teams. Audit went smoothly – target to report in 30 days. Will come to June or July BOD meeting. Working on land value as part of audit. 250 pounds of food received from the Amazing Race on May 1.
- President Report by Montalto – no report
- Project Committee by V Bush. Meeting at EUA today to refine building plan to 8,000 – 10,000 gross sf. ETC 5/14.
- Capital Campaign by V Bush – Once EUA has revised plans we will start up the campaign again!
- Personnel & Planning by Callahan – no report.
- Events Committee by Hemberger-Lee – Many events coming up that need help. 5/18 track, 5/19 Josh Fischer Spaghetti Dinner, 5/29 Brat stand at Pig in Cambridge, 6/12 – 6/27 Parade of Homes 3-7pm M-F and 11-5 week-ends, 6/13 Firemen’s breakfast (set up Saturday night), Deerfield Days in July. Gayle will be out May 10 forward for surgery and treatment. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you, Gayle!
- Marketing Report by Spilde – Scott absent. Victoria to request update.
- Parks Committee and Village Board by Montalto, Schreiber updated when he arrived. Fields at Community Park will be turned this week. Initial process belongs to Village, DCC to do upkeep throughout the season. Spray Park being considered as an addition to Savannah Park. The well is taking some additional time.
- Lions Club by Lemke. Habitat for Humanity – no report. Lions – BBQ May 7 start at 11:30. Can preorder at bank. Flower sale went well. Golf July 23 in Edgerton. Lions hope to help with eye screening during Kindergarten registration next year.
- Chamber of Commerce Report by Attoe. Speaking regarding Parade of Homes. Deerfield Dash May 22. Network Night in July.
- Discussed proposed by-law changes to Article VII, section 5. Motion to approve by Peacock, second by Connely. Motion passed 7-0.
- Discussed set up and objectives of committee created by previous agenda item. Meeting will be held 5:45pm May 4 for preliminary discussion with interested parties.
- Gayle Hemberger-Lee to rejoin board. Nomination by Haag, second by Becker, approved 7-0. Welcome back!
- Food Pantry/Lions Club joint project on school meal opportunities is in process. Target for beginning of next school year.
- Update on Family Night. Has been two open nights and only host family has been present. Discussion to stop for the summer and restart in fall. Or to have outdoor activities or utilize the gym at the school.
- Senior Meal Program meal increase from $3 to $4. Discussed and motion by Schreiber, second by Peacock, approved 8-0.
- Basketball team disqualified from State Tournament. Placed 3rd but had persons on team not from Deerfield. Originally there was thought this team went representing DCC. After discussions it was determined that they had no connection with DCC for this tournament, so no action is needed. However, this is the type of issue the new committee will discuss to ensure we do not have a future issue. (i.e. control of traveling teams representing DCC)
- National League Baseball 5/6 grade teams were not equally divided. At this time the coaches are fine with the teams, although some parents are not. Another issue for the new committee.
- Tom sent an email to all Capital Campaign committee members to verify their interest/commitment to the project when we are able to continue. At this time there has been no negative responses.
- Share Program order deadline for this month is Friday, May 7.
- Next meeting 6/7 at 6pm DCC.
- Next Events Committee meeting Thursday 6/3 6pm at Pickle Tree. Note change of day and location.
- Deerfield Days and Parade of Homes meeting Thursday May 13 @ DCC 6pm.
