Coed Kickball Rules 2008
Alcohol Prohibited at all center events including Kickball
Pitching
· Batter will only get three pitches maximum.
· Defensive fielder must stay behind the pitching rubber until the ball is kicked.
Kicking
· Men and women must alternate in kicking order.
· No player may kick more than once until the entire team rotation per gender has had a chance to kick. However, to preserve the male-female alternating kicking order it may be necessary to have one gender kick more than once.
· All kicks must be made with the foot.
· All kicks must occur at or behind home plate
· Unlimited batting order may be used.
· Teams may elect to kick more than ten players provided they are present at the start of the game. An uneven number of men and women is allowed if the number of either sex does not exceed the other by more than one.
· When batting, if a man walks, the woman following has the option to also walk or kick.
· Two foul balls are considered a stikeout.
The Game
· Minimum age to play in this league is 18 years old.
· Home team is listed second on the schedule and will occupy 1st base dugout.
· Home team is responsible for keeping the score.
· Regulation games last 7 full innings or 55 minutes, whichever comes first. If tied after seven innings, extra innings will be played.
· The minimum number of players to start the game must be eight players. A four and four minimum of each sex. If a team does not have the eight players necessary to start the game at game time, the game clock shall start and a grace period of ten minutes will be allowed before a forfeit is declared.
· No stealing or steel spikes.
· There will be no courtesy step for being off base unless the ball is kicked. Runners are out.
· Sliding is not allowed at any base.
· In case of injury or illness, a time-out may be requested for participant removal and replacement with a substitute of the same sex. The participant that is removed may not re-enter the game. If a player is ejected, injured or becomes ill and can’t continue, the lineup will continue in the same formation, minus the removed player. If he/she is not replaced, it will become an automatic out each time that players “at bat” comes up.
Fielding
· An uneven number of men and women is allowed if the number of either sex does not exceed the other by more than one.
· Once a defender begins the inning at a certain position, you must remain at that position for the rest of that inning, other than pitcher.
· No defensive player may play in front of the pitcher.
· Four outfielders must play beyond the infield area or on the outfield grass until the ball is hit. Two men and two women are to play in the infield. Pitcher and catcher must be opposite sex.
· Protests on a play must be made before the next pitch.
Ball in Play
· Players in the field are allowed to kick the ball (as opposed to throwing) towards another team player in the field. This is particularly helpful if you have a long throw from the outfield.
Base Running
· Hitting a runner with the ball above the shoulder level is not allowed. Any runner hit above the shoulders as they are running to a base will be safe. If a player intentionally throws at the head of another player that player will be ejected from the game. If the runner intentionally uses their head to block the ball, the runner will be called out.
Makeup Games
· All rained out games will be made up on the Friday nights following the season.
Rainout Procedure
· In the event of rain, you may check our website at www.dccenter.org. Decisions will be held off until after 4 pm. Umpires will make the decisions after that time. If lightning is spotted the game will be stopped and delayed or suspended. Four innings is considered a complete game.
