American and National League Youth Baseball

***It’s time for Baseball season again.  Deerfield Community Center offers traveling American and National League baseball to youth that are in grades 3-6 (2007-08 school year).   Each team will compete in ten games with teams from Cambridge, Marshall and Waterloo.  They will also compete in the Deerfield Days Tournament and one other area tournament (TBD).    It’s very important for each child to make a commitment to attend each practice and game.  Practices are determined by each coach and your child’s coach will call you with that information prior to the first practice.  Each player will receive a team jersey and hat.        

OPEN FIELD DAYS- We will have four sessions on Sunday afternoons in April.  These sessions will be run by volunteers and will help players work on fielding, catching, throwing, pitching and hitting.  Players should try and make as many sessions as possible.

SPRING TRAINING-On May 3 from 11-1 p.m.  All players must attend.  Bring your glove and be prepared to participate.  This session helps evaluate player skill level.

We need volunteers to help with the season; it’s an essential component of this league.  If you are interested in coaching we will have a coaches meeting on May 7 @ 6:30 PM at the Deerfield Community Center.  At this meeting you will be picking up gear, team roster and schedule and scheduling your practice time.  Also, all coaches should plan to attend and help run the Spring Training event on May 3 from 11-1.  They are also encouraged to help with the Open Field Days in April.
