Minor League Youth Baseball

It’s time for Baseball season again.  Deerfield Community Center offers non-traveling Minor League (ML) baseball to youth that are in grades 1 and 2 (2007-08 school year).  Each team will complete in six games and complete in the Deerfield Days Tournament.  Each player will receive a team jersey and hat.

Minor League players will be working on developing the basic skills: throwing, catching, fielding, running bases and hitting off the pitching machine.  They will use these skills during games.  Players are encouraged to practice skills at home before, during and after the season is completed.  It’s very important for each child and parent to make a commitment to attend each practice and game.  It is very discouraging when a team is unable to practice or play due to the high number of children whom are absent.  Please keep this in mind when registering your child.

Games and times are listed below in the chart.  Practices are determined by each coach and your child’s coach will call you with that information prior to the first practice.  Please allow adequate time for the coach to call.  If after the practice start date you still have not received a call please call DCC- 764-5935 for further information. 

SPRING TRAINING-On May 3 from 11-1 p.m.  All players must attend.  Bring your glove and be prepared to participate.  This session helps evaluate player skill level.

We need volunteers to help with the season, it’s an essential component of this league.  If you are interested in coaching we will have a coaches meeting on May 7

@ 6:30 PM at the Deerfield Community Center.  At this meeting you will be picking up gear, team roster, schedule, and scheduling your practice time.  Also, all coaches should plan to attend and help run the Spring Training event on May 3 from 11-1 p.m.
